Expedia App now on Windows Phone
June 23, 2014– Beginning today, the Expedia travel app is available in the Windows Phone Store for download. Expedia.ca has heard from various customers who use Windows Phones that they were interested in having access to the app on the Windows platform and now a new Expedia.ca experience is available for Windows devices.
Expedia.ca recently got to work on quickly developing a solution for Windows customers, using some of Microsoft’s developer tools to put a wrapper around its mobile website experience to deliver a great app. If you’re familiar with our app on iOS and Android, you’ll notice that this rendition of our app is a bit different: it more closely mirrors the look and feel of our mobile website. Here is a quick outline of what customers will experience:
· Book flights and hotels: Similar to the existing Expedia travel app on iOS and Android platforms, customers can browse and book flights and hotels directly within the app.
· Review your itinerary: Travellers can also review their upcoming flight and hotel itineraries within the app so they can conveniently access information like confirmation codes and check-in times.
· Payment options: Since the app is built from our mobile website, Windows Phone customers will have the option (among participating hotels) to choose if they want to pay now or pay later – a payment option called Expedia Traveller Preference (ETP) that currently exists on Expedia desktop and mobile website but is not available to the iOS or Android Expedia app users.
· Future plans: Expedia.ca is closely monitoring customer feedback on the new app. One thing they expect travellers will want is the option to receive timely push notifications about their trip.
As new mobile platforms emerge, Expedia.ca keeps a sharp eye on customer interest and demand. The Windows Phone platform is experiencing growth in various markets around the world. Be sure to download the app and let us know what you think!
